The Data Architect forParallon BPG is a new position required to address the critical need for advanced technical leadership needed to define, implement and maintain a Data Strategy and Data Governance Model for the organization. The initial activities for this role will be to gather data and asset inventory information for the organization; understand the interdependencies between BPG and HCA Corporate data and applications; and begin to formulate a strategy - along with policies and procedures - for how BPG can better utilize and protect its data and assets.

Longer-term objectives will include the enablement of the agreed-upon strategy and participate, as needed, in the governance process; collaborate with other analytics resources within the organization and aid them in the adoption of our overall strategy; define and plan for new, large-scale Data Analytics initiatives (e.g., Self Service); support platform upgrades and/or moves; and develop, refactor and/or maintain data transformations for our applications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an inventory of BPG data stores and assets
  • Create Data Strategy and Data Governance framework with other key contributors
  • Author IT&S policies, standards and procedures associated with data storage, governance and utilization
  • Lead implementation efforts for strategic and tactical initiatives in the Data Analytics space
  • Educate key IT and Business leaders regarding Data Strategy and Data Governance
  • Facilitate key meetings and design sessions
  • Develop and maintain a Data Strategy roadmap
  • Develop or refactor existing processes (ETL, jobs, etc.)
  • Consult internally on data transformation or utilization issues
  • Consult with Business partners on projects and or operational activities
  • Evaluate new tools or approaches and perform Proof-of-Concept activities including technical feasibility analysis along with financial metrics (ROI)
  • Assess the potential of Self-Service at BPG along with the creation of cost and timeline estimates
  • Review, model, and consult on data solutions throughout the organization
  • Provide architectural / system documentation on data and assets as needed
  • Create process documentation as needed
  • Research data analytics concepts


EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree required

EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis
  • 10+ years of SQL Experience (at least 1 of the following: MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, Teradata, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various modeling techniques (Transactional (ER), Dimensional (Snowflake, Star), Object Oriented, Hierarchical, etc.)
  • Knowledge of key concepts in data management (data governance, master data management, metadata management, data lineage, data catalogs, data stewardship, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data integration techniques and tools
  • Experience in distributed systems (Hadoop, Teradata, Documents Data Stored, Key Value data stores)
  • Working knowledge in at least 1 high level programing language a plus (.net, Java, Python, etc.)
  • Expertise in multiple DBs preferred
  • Analytical mind, critical thinker, problem-solver
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Collaboration with large teams (both project and functional)
