Why PSG?

The Physician Services Group (PSG) is responsible for several lines of business, including Physician Practices, Hospital-based physician services, Urgent Care Services, Graduate Medical Education, and Health 2 You. PSG currently has over 3,000 providers and 800 physician practices. PSG is growing rapidly in the Urgent Care setting, with 90 Urgent Care Clinics currently and over 300 projected by the end of 2018. The Graduate Medical Education program is projected to double in size, to become the largest in the World by the end of 2020 with over 5,000 residents. PSG IT&S will need to handle the demands of such rapid growth. PSG IT&S supports centralized departments supporting the lines of business, such as Financial Services, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Protection and Security, Ethics & Compliance, Quality and Government Programs, Coding Operations and HIM, Ambulatory EHR, Management Services, Marketing and Digital Services, Physician Development, and Practice Operations.


This position will provide recognized knowledge of product features, functionality and utilization of products for the HCA Physician Services Interface team. Responsibilities include configuration and development of interfaces in the HCA Physician Services environment. Collaborate with project teams and business partners to meet IT project objectives for products that are projected to deliver business value, require IT&S infrastructure changes, or present technical or operational risk. Provide product expertise, design detailed product functionality, identify and escalate significant project issues, and ensure products meet specified requirements. Provide hands-on expertise to independently resolve service delivery or functionality issues with a product, frequently communicating with end users and vendors. Continually mature an understanding of how business owners/practitioners utilize the product(s), by maintaining strong relationships with business partners and product users.

You will be expected to c ontribute product knowledge to trainers, documenters and testers as well as
  • Collaborate with development, technical entities/vendors, and project team members to provide hands-on expertise to independently resolve service delivery or functionality issues with a product, leading frequent communication with end users. Assist project team to handle issue escalation to the vendor if applicable. Maintain involvement and knowledge of projects related to their products and collaborates with team members to monitor product issue that places the project at risk. Work as part of a team to successfully implement fixes, patches and version upgrades released by a vendor, collaborating with project teams to evaluate and decide upon their application for HCA
  • Development and configuration of interfaces as assigned. Support IT product owner on projects, contributing detailed knowledge of product features and functions, working with software vendors and product development peers to understand new product features. Support product implementation, customization, or development and document technical requirements. Participate in system support, customer support, incident resolution, and issue escalation procedures.
  • Participate in pilot preparation, coordinating rollouts, documenting process through initial deployments and transferring deployment responsibility as needed. Work with the IT team to implement usual business maintenance requirements for the system in production including resolution of system issues, discovery of new configuration requirements and the configuration of constituent applications. Support the deployment of changes into production.
  • Contribute knowledge of product(s) functionality to requirement definition activities for initial product deployment and product enhancements. Participate in vendor evaluations for products that are projected to deliver business value, require IT&S infrastructure changes, or present technical or operational risk. Continually mature an understanding of how business practitioners utilize the product(s), by maintaining relationships with the business partners and product users. Successfully support multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Develop or maintain updated product documentation, assist in the preparation of the product testing strategy and testing execution plan. Participate in the development of user documentation and manuals, training material, and/or job aids.


Bachelor's Degree preferred


A minimum of 3 years' relevant work experience in addition to the following:

  • Basic understanding of SQL and how to query a database.

  • Ability to operate and communicate effectively while under pressure.

  • Experience as an effective member of teams.

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills are essential.
  • HL7 knowledge is highly preferred but not required.
