As a Lead SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) you will have the opportunity to grow and leverage your technical skills in database architecture design, administration, engineering and tuning to manage our structured SQL Server database environments. Working directly with application development teams, operating system engineers, and storage engineers you will be accountable for setting up and maintaining the database environments, performance tuning and ensuring database resources are optimized for performance and cost.

You will work with the team to move towards automation opportunities that are in line with operational excellence and corporate standards. The culture of our organization places an emphasis on teamwork, so social and interpersonal skills are equally important as technical capability.
• Identify and evaluate industry trends in new database related systems and technologies (e.g. Azure, SQL on Linux, NoSQL and PowerShell)
• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time, cost and infrastructure required to successfully deliver the database requests
• Research, architect and implement database technologies designs using industry and HCA best practices
• Optimize database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost
• Ensure that HCA's SQL Server standards are communicated and enforced
• Ensure architectural, quality, and governance adherence through design reviews
• Work closely with individuals across the technology organizations to help promote awareness of the SQL Server design options and ensure that best practices are followed
• Problem analysis, diagnosis, and implementation of resolutions
• Provide 24x7 system database administration support
• Architect, Design and implement database components
Basic Qualifications:
• Solid interpersonal skills, including a desire to work within a highly-matrixed, team-oriented environment
• Ability to define and gain adoption of best practice techniques
• Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures
• Demonstrated performance monitoring and tuning ability, including an aptitude to lead the diagnosis and resolution of performance problems within a large-scale, complex infrastructure
• Expertise in one or more of the following: database partitioning, database compression, data encryption, replication, disaster recovery
• Expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting SQL Server configurations that are Highly Available.
• Expertise in configuration and administration of database security
• Knowledge of database administration through the complete application development project life cycle.
• Ability to lead team projects

Bachelor's degree required along with 7+ years of relevant work experience required.
