Description: Responsible for employing standard release management processes, methods and techniques to ensure successful completion of the optimal deployment of repeatable technology related release packages into the production environments of existing software and technology products. This includes system upgrades or implementations. Releases can vary from small enhancement only releases to multifunction technical improvements, defect remediation and Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) vendor software. Releases can be as small as 100 to 200 day's of capacity and as large as 2000-25000 day's of capacity spanning enterprise level releases. Working with Master Schedules release managers are accountable for delivering releases in predictably timeframes, within budget and timelines in an efficient manner with controlled risk levels, providing predictable outcomes to a broad variety of customers. Release Managers engage clients and functional peer groups in information gathering research, issue identification and management, and change management/acceptance. The Release Manager has the overall responsibility for planning, organizing, and integrating cross-functional software product releases to deliver specific measured changes into the production environment on behalf of the business sponsors.

Essential Functions:

- Release planning: Responsible for planning and conducting release kickoff meetings, defining release scope, facilitating technical/operational requirements identification, developing detailed release plans, release budget or anticipated savings, and establishing a framework for the management of on-going release activities.
- Release execution and readiness: Manages the release management process, including leading release readiness meetings. May document issues, action items, user requirements, or deliverables from release
readiness meetings. Performs a variety of release related activities, including: updating release schedules and plans, release communications, budget tracking, etc. Accomplishes all work within established methodologies and standards.
- Issues management: Identifies and tracks release issues, resolving issues where possible or escalating to higher management when needed. Assesses and manages risks and drives mitigation activities.
- Change management: Influences and gains commitment to change. Partners with clients and release team members to drive communications and change management activities for each release deliverable. May be responsible for participating in the development of communications and change management materials.
- Business and process improvement: Identifies opportunities for business or process improvement; makes associated recommendations as appropriate.
- Customer Service: Actively engages clients through all phases of the release life cycle, ensuring client satisfaction through timely communication and consistent completion of deliverables within communicated timeframes.
Basic Qualifications:

Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with dedicated release management using industry standard release management tools and techniques.
Education
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A

Additional Requirements:
- Microsoft Project Plan - release plan creation and maintenance and conceptualization of release components and deliverables.
- Ability to facilitate release planning meetings to articulate release components and deliverables.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, OR four (4) years of experience with release management, mathematics or industrial engineering or software related coursework preferred.
