Database Developer

Job Summary - The Database Developer, under the direction of the Manager is responsible for producing the underlying assets which support the analytical and reporting solutions which drive the decisions that drive the operations of the organization. As a part of the Financial Systems team, this person will be responsible to move, integrate, and transform data into business insight.

Duties (included but not limited to):
• Works closely with Financial Analytics team and Senior Database Developer
• Troubleshoot production support issues in the application environments
• Support Performance and Query Tuning
• Gather business needs to assist producing data warehouse/business intelligence solutions in support of PSC's BI strategy
• Work as a part of a development team to implement product enhancements
• Produce quality & timely deliverables as part of data warehouse project team
• Design and develop Data Warehouse ETL processes and Stored Procedures
• Design and develop Reports from Data Warehouse using Stored Procedures
• Perform peer reviews and take ownership to ensure quality of data in data warehouse
• Become expert in very short time in existing MicroStrategy solution to troubleshoot and correct issues
• Efficiently work in an agile environment - both Sprint and Kanban
• Production support on a rotating basis

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred

3+ years of experience with ETL Design & development using Microsoft BI stack, including SQL and SSIS in Data Warehouse setting. Preferred experience with MicroStrategy or similar, and integration with existing architecture and data engineering assets. Familiar with Healthcare Revenue Cycle Data preferred. Familiar with Data Warehouse architecture and Development. Preferred working knowledge of VBA, C#. Understanding of quality assurance and data quality principals as applied to an ETL architecture is a plus. Good understanding of Microsoft Office toolset to field questions about Excel and Access.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS - Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. Requires lifting papers or boxes up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work is an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations.
