The Senior BI Application Engineer must be a highly motivated self-starter, an enthusiastic learner, and will contribute to define, design, plan, and execute on self-serve strategy and have the ability to communicate, educate, and coordinate self-serve initiatives as defined by Parallon BPG standards with moderate supervision.  This candidate should have experience in administering, developing, and consulting on business led analytic tools such as MicroStrategy Dossier, Power BI, Tableau, and Alteryx and assist stakeholders in determining the tool set to best meet business needs.

The focus of this role is to administer governance related to business centric created reporting:

•Work with business development managers to ensure adherence to published Guiding Principles and Best Practices
•As necessary, augment Guiding Principles and Best Practices necessary to meet dynamic capabilities of the reporting tools and/or from lessons learned
•Identify educational needs across the business community and establish/schedule quarterly training events that influence better use of the reporting tools and/or SQL.
•Lead iterative code reviews to ensure business developers are adhering to guiding principles and vendor recommended development practices
Provide short-term hands-on development or consulting to assist business teams with creating the first few reports
•Identify innovative information created by the business and coordinate with business analysts to incorporate the value-add data back into the Enterprise Data Warehouse
•Participate in the development and deployment of IT Centric fit-for-purpose BI products aligned to the customer's strategic plans and technology road maps
•Contribute to system requirements documentation, communication to customer engagement and architecture teams, and the refinement of existing system design.
•Participate in the preparation and delivery of BI products that address business needs
•Participate in tactical decision-making processes
•Expertise around tool sets in the BI space in order to meet business needs.

The Senior BI Application Engineer will perform all duties with a focus on quality of work and attention to detail with a high level of self-management and self-awareness. Reports to the Manager of Business Intelligence Solutions. 



•Construct and debug applications across all aspects of application development including but not limited to Middle tier and Database layer (SQL, T-SQL, and SSIS) as well as front end graphical user interface design
•Integrate new/existing software with existing systems.
•Production application support.
•Create automated unit tests.
•Collaborate with business analysts, project lead, management and customers on project requirements.
•Provide accurate and thorough estimates of work effort.
•Participate in large-scale development projects involving multiple areas outside of core team.
•Develop understanding of defined Agile processes and coding standards


5-10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in the Healthcare IT industry. Business intelligence experience and experience working with revenue cycle is preferred.  Demonstrated experience in 1 or more Business-led development tools such as Tableau, QlikView, Power BI, MicroStrategy, etc… is REQUIRED.

Key desired experience includes the following:
•Strong data analysis skills with experience in data transformation
•Proficient in SQL, T-SQL, and SSIS packages
•Proven business Intelligence report design and build skills
•Experience with BI Analytics tools, such as MicroStrategy, Power BI, Tableau, or Business Objects
•Experience in BI Product development

•Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field Preferred
•5-10 years of business intelligence or data management experience
•Healthcare IT Experience, Revenue Cycle Experience, Project Management Experience preferred
•Must be able to travel up to 5% of the time



•Light travel may be required
•Typical work week hours can vary depending on workload and project deliverables
•Work from home arrangements defined and agreed upon with supervisor
