Job Description

Senior member of the team that produces reporting for Revenue Cycle, analyzes end to end revenue cycle processes, and oversees and ensures the accuracy and integrity of Kaiser Permanente's financial data. Takes the lead on and supports department's goals and accountabilities by partnering with customers and colleagues to generate insightful, innovative, and practical solutions to strategic issues and complex or unusual problems through the use of analytical tools that support fact-based decisions. Retrieves and analyzes a variety of healthcare information (e.g. billing, encounters, claims, membership,  etc.) and designs and manages statistical measurements and reporting processes related to financial improvement and monitoring activities. Structures and leads projects to meet client expectations, deliver value, and minimize potential obstacles and risks. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with the Principles of Responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements, external laws, and accreditation standards.  Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse.

Essential Responsibilities:

Effectively applies quantitative and statistical analysis to identify trends and develop solutions.
Develops and maintains outcome measurement techniques for department performance and suggests appropriate tools for measuring process improvement.
Assesses reporting and automation requirements and develops appropriate solutions.
Critically analyzes data, draws conclusions, and effectively articulates results to clients.
Acts as a thought partner with clients to identify key areas and priorities for focus based on data analysis.
Performs advanced analyses, develops accurate scorecards and other reporting processes, provides detailed statistical measurements and interpretation, creates cost-benefit/profitability analyses, financial forecasts, and other analyses as required.
Effectively influences and persuades individuals and groups to define and implement solutions or set strategy.
Develops and manages project plans; including defining deliverables, key milestones, and critical path.
Identifies project barriers/constraints and provides recommendations to mitigate. Identifies and conveys project risks and plan for contingencies.
Collaborates with Revenue Cycle management, Business Intelligence, Medical Group, vendors, National and Regional teams, KPIT and other internal KP departments.
Displays strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills; communicates effectively with all levels of leadership, staff, and physicians.
Known for expertise in knowledge of in KPHealthConnect (Epic) data and Kaiser Permanente revenue cycle processes and actively shares knowledge within and outside the department.
Provides training, direction, and mentorship to project teams and Revenue Cycle staff as necessary.
Works independently or with others on the team as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:


Minimum four (4) years of relevant work experience performing data analysis, reporting, automation, project management, quality improvement processes, practical use of research analysis hypotheses and methods, or strategic planning.

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare, science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, information technology or related area OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma or GED required
License, Certification, Registration

Epic Certification or proficiency within six (6) months of attending EPIC training.

Additional Requirements:

Advanced proficiency with Business Objects, SAS, SQL, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Access. Equivalent experience in other reporting and analytics software and processes may be considered.
Advanced proficiency in Epic's Clarity data model and software applications (particularly Resolute PB, Prelude, Cadence, EpicCare Ambulatory, and/or OpTime)
Demonstrated experience in data extracting, manipulation and/or data management, reporting, and interpreting and communicating results and recommendations. Demonstrated customer service skills, customer focus abilities, and the ability to understand Kaiser Permanente customer needs.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and research skills required.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and make recommendations for solutions based on independent analysis.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing projects and project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology.
