My name is David Serrano, I am interested in the IT Support Technician (Tableau) position. I currently graduated from California State University Los Angeles, December 2018. With a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information System with a focus on Information Technology. Cal State LA is also my employer. I am an IT Consultant assistant for the University, directly working for the Engineering College.
The University has employed me for four years now. I believe that I have acquired the necessary skills for pursuing a larger role in my career. This is due to working directly for an IT Consultant. I have learned how to excel at this position and believe I am ready. I have successfully completed several projects such as finding faster ways that students’ login to a lab computer. One of the biggest projects was setting up a networking class, with switches and routers.
Cal State LA has taught me critical skills in the IT field. Courses in Business Intelligence and decision support systems introduced topics on SDLC methodologies. This has helped me develop my technical skills and communication skills. Support technician is my main area of interest. That will in return provide my full willfulness to learn new topics or training.
During High School I was in a yearlong internship with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, which is where my interest in IT began. I worked alongside with Sr. System Analyst, from which mentored me. This encouraged me to take a similar path into Support tech. I hope we can meet up and discuss my skillsets and qualifications soon.
Troubleshoot 100+ computer hardware and software for varies departments within the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology.
Setting up computers with Mac OS and Windows with image.
Installing software on computer labs, faculty office or research areas. Maintain computer labs clean and organized. Helping faculty with office moves. Providing solutions with regards to password resets and accounts.
Surveying out old equipment. Providing maintenance to equipment and providing technical solutions.
Worked alongside multiple departments to achieve common goals.
Work together with professors on technology and networking issues. Managing services tickets with ServiceNow software.
